Can you believe that we have completed eight weeks of school? Geezzz. . . time sure flies! I am so proud of every one of my students. We've had a great time so far and have learned so much together. I hope you are happy and finding this school year to be the best! Parent/Teacher conferences were FANTASTIC and I enjoyed getting to spend time with each of you. Please feel free to contact me anytime with concerns or questions. I hope you're having a relaxing fall break. See you next week!! :)

Gotcha Day for one of our Students
We are blessed to have so many wonderful families at Dayspring Academy! One of these families, the Hicks, has an adopted child from China. Yesterday was her Gotcha Day and we celebrated today with her mother coming to class and talking of their beautiful journey to their daughter. I couldn't help but cry a little. . .
Mrs. Hicks read to them. |
We were able to look through a photo book of their special trip to China. |

Gooney Bird Greene
Let's see if this works. . . I keep a personal blog as well as one for the class. I wrote a post about me getting all dressed up as character for my students last week in my personal blog - let's see if I can leave a link to get to it!

Just a few pictures. . .
I try to keep a camera close by so that I can get plenty of great shots. Here a few. . .
Will and Emma are working together on a quick review. You just never know where you will find us in the classroom - we are always moving around! |
We have started working on place value. |
I just LOVE this picture of Conner ~ look at the smile on his sweet face! :) |

Our Class Motto
I asked Grangran to make this new sign for us. I just love it!! (Okay, so I stole it from Pinterest, but still. . . it is PERFECT!)

Community Service
Teaching a sense of community and responsibility is high on the priority list here at Dayspring. One of the ways that we can accomplish this is through some community service projects. This year our class will be visiting The Sterling House in Goodletsville on a regular basis. We are making new friends and helping out a little while we are there. Our first visit was last week. The theme for the day was "Friendship". Students made some homemade friendship fudge in class and learned how to play Bingo. We had a lot of fun getting to know our new friends!
