Another great week!

Last week was a GREAT week at school!

We worked on writing dates correctly!  They love getting to find a sweet spot in the classroom and use their clipboards.

I spend about 10 - 15 minutes each day reading to the kids.  Last week I decided to read some of my favorite childhood books to them.  They loved it!  We had some awesome conversations after reading these books.

Every year I like to bring in a photo of myself when I was in their current grade.  This sits on our bookshelf and anytime my students get overwhelmed or anxious, I tell them to simply look at the picture and remember that I was once in their shoes and I understand how they feel!

A little bit of center time. . .

This is how we roll with math review!  When it comes time to review for a math test, we break up into groups and have a math challenge.  This week it was girls against the boys. . .the girls won!  The kiddo's work on the chapter review together as a team.  The first team to bring me a review with EVERYTHING correct wins.  They often have to go back and work on a couple problems together to get them right, but that's the best part - they are working together and using their new math vocabulary!  LOVE IT!!

We had to do this!  We have been studying the sun and moon and touched on the phases of the moon.  It just would have been wrong to not have made the Oreo Phases of the Moon!

We may have had a little snack. . .  maybe! ;)

We are still working on our "Helen Keller" reading/writing project.  They are writing a character sketch. . .this is the beginning stages.

We have also been learning just a bit of sign language while reading about Helen Keller.

We decided to get artsy with our science review.

Shew. . .it was a BUSY week!  It's Monday again and I have a whole new week full of learning planned!  Talk to you soon.
